Charles H. "Chuck" Mosher, 90 of Falconer, passed away Tuesday (April 27, 2010), in WCA Hospital.
He was born Nov. 13, 1919, in Rochester, N.Y., the son of the late Henry and Clara Mosher.
Chuck was a 1939 graduate of Falconer High School, and was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946.
Prior to retirement, he was employed at Ellison Bronze in Falconer. He was a life member of the Henry Mosher Post 638, American Legion having served as commander and had also served as American Legion county commander from 1954 to 1955. Chuck was also a life member of the John W. Tiffany Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and member of the 40/8 446, where he served as Chef De Gare in 1961 and correspondent in 1963 of the 40/8 8th District.
He enjoyed hunting, golfing, shuffling, watching all sports, especially his favorite teams: New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills, puttering with projects at home and working in his flower beds.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Gladys V. Wickmark Mosher, whom he married Sept. 20, 1940, in Falconer; a daughter Valerie Holland of Hornell; a son, Arlen "Chuck" Mosher of Alabama, and Florida; daughter-in-law, Marie Mosher of Alabama; three grandchildren: Kristy Holland of Hornell, Kory Holland of North Carolina, and Taylor Mosher of Alabama; three great-grandchildren: Rande and Kiel Pepper of Florida, and Marissa Holland of Hornell, who called him "Grandpa Dad" and his constant companion, Raja, his dog.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Jean Mosher in 1946; his in-laws, Raymond and Vivian Wickmark; his sister Gertrude Hall; and his parents.
