GUSTAF W. SWANSON, 84, of Weaver Hill Road, formerly of Providence, a merchant marine serving two tours, one during World War II, died Monday at the Alpine Nursing Home.
Born in Laholm, Halland, Sweden, a son of the late Per August and Elin Amanda (Anderson) Swanson, he lived in Coventry for three years, previously living in Providence.
Mr. Swanson had been employed at Electric Boat in Groton, Conn., for several years before retiring. He was a member of the National Maritime Union.
He is survived by a daughter, a brother and two grandsons. He was the brother of the late Arnold Swanson.
