Agnes Marie Payne was born March 29, 1921, in Boston, Mass., the daughter of Oscar Anderson and Clara (Andersen) Anderson. She passed away from this life on June 16, 2003, in Prescott. She was 82 years old.
Agnes married Clifford A Payne on Oct. 12, 1945. They lived in Gardner, Mass., and Phoenix before moving to Prescott in 1986.
Agnes was the first woman Vice President of the Gardner Savings Bank in Gardner, Mass. Agnes was also the business manager for the Arizona Education Association in Phoenix before retiring to Prescott.
Mrs. Payne was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was also an active volunteer at the information desk at YRMC. She loved to travel and play cards with her friends.
Her husband, Clifford, and her brother, Arthur, preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Grace Riley of Hingham, Mass.; a brother, Walter Anderson of Florida; brother-in-law, Ashton L Payne of Gardner, Mass; nieces Peggy Johnston, Veronica Thompson and Mary Ann Riley; and nephews, John Riley, Michael Riley and Andrew Anderson.
A memorial gathering to celebrate the life of Agnes will be held at 10:00 a.m., Sat., Aug. 9 at Bradshaw Chapel, 8480 E Valley Rd., Prescott Valley.
Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
